Avielun Tumet

Redeemed slaver. Allagan engineer.

Once a member of the Tumet tribe of the Azim Steppe, this xaela was forced from a young age to turn to banditry and slaving to survive.

Though she was once a selfish, ruthless, violent, and savage predator, the steady pressure of determined hearts have started to turn her a new leaf.

Ever teetering on the edge of falling back into old habits and releasing the animal kept caged in the back of her mind, she forges a path forward as a pillar of strength and determination for those she's coming to care about.

Scorched Earth

As a child of the Tumet tribe of the Steppe, when Avielun reached ten years old she underwent the Tumet ritual trial of being tied to a tree while the rest of her tribe moved on. Though expected to break herself free and catch up to earn herself a name and a place in the tribe, Avielun found herself unable to break the bonds and was only freed days later when dehydration and starvation had nearly killed her. Barely alive, the nameless Tumet crawled her way to water, and would spend the next four years of her life alone with fear, hunger, and the memory of betrayal her only company as she struggled to survive on her own in the Steppe.

Her first real contact with other xaela were a group of slavers, intent on taking from the young girl something she was not willing to give. Finding herself ambushed, Avielun fought for her life with tooth and claw and managed to slay three of her attackers. When the rest recoiled from her in fear, and acquiesced to her demands, Avielun made quick use of this new power to bring them to heel. In the days and weeks that followed, Avielun quickly learned that among their ranks, fear and force were how one survived and got what they wanted. So began a decade-long cycle.

She was quick to establish herself at the apex of the food chain of the group of tribeless bandits, and when they would falter, escape, or die, Avielun made to replace them - a new tribe was forming on the Steppe, one of bandits, built on a kraterocratic heirarchy with one increasingly ruthless slaver in it's throne. For ten years, Avielun built a small kingdom of her own, cycling through slaves and servants kidnapped and tortured by her hand and those obedient to her.

When another tribe managed to wipe her small army out and force her to retreat, she set her sights outside the Steppe, and wandered to Eorzea, where she landed in Limsa Lominsa. Nearly immediately, she found herself in a bar fight, one that turned bloody and destructive. She was arrested, but a deal was struck - serve the Maelstrom in their war games and drills, and behave, and she'd be left out of jail. Unknown to them, this provided the Steppe slaver with top-of-the-line weaponry and armor, and she didn't hesitate to use this new sponsorship to support her vision of building a new slave army in Eorzea.
